In God’s timing

After 6 years of being homeless and addicted to meth, I found myself in the Merced County Jail facing some serious charges.  I spent 4 months in Lockdown in a 2-person cell.  It was the hardest time of my life.  The second Sunday I was there I met the Female Chaplains; they prayed with me and gave me a bible and told me to start in the book of John.   When I opened it, the first verse I read was,

“For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, they are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. In those days when you pray, I will listen.  If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me.” — Jeremiah 29:11-13

This Scripture changed my life.  I would look forward to Sundays to see the chaplain’s and pray with them for my life to change, and for me to get into a rehabilitation program.  Shortly after I was accepted into the Rescue Mission Hope for Women program.  Since completing the program, I now have my own apartment, I have a relationship with my daughter, and a relationship with God.

The Merced County Jail Ministry changed my life. The Chaplains bring hope and light into one of the darkest places someone can be.  My testimony shows no matter the situation, you find yourself in God can turn it around for good in his plan and timing.
